Confucius Institute Lecture Explores the Unity and Diversities between Chinese and Western Culture

The Confucius Institute at UWI, Mona presents its third anniversary Lecture on Friday, March 2, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. at the Inter-Faculty Lecture Theatre. This year’s lecture is entitled, "Chinese Culture and Western Culture - Unity within Diversities". Professor Zhao Yang, of the School of Chinese as a Second Language, Beijing University, China will deliver the Lecture. 
 
Professor Zhao Yang holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Beijing Foreign Studies University, a Masters in Linguistics from Beijing University and a Doctoral degree from Cambridge University, also in Linguistics. His research is focused primarily on Second Language Acquisition, Sociolinguistics and Generative Grammar. 
 
A distinguished teacher, Zhao Yang has received numerous awards and scholarships, among them are: the Award for Excellence in Teaching from Beijing University and Outstanding Teacher Award from the Lulong County Government, Hebei Province. He has also researched and published several critical articles in international academic journals.
 
The university community and the public are invited to attend the Lecture.
