CARIMAC Summer School

Exciting opportunities in communications skills training are being offered in this year’s Summer School at the Caribbean Institute of Media and Communication (CARIMAC), UWI Mona. CARIMAC Summer School, which begins on June 7 and continues to the end of July, offers new courses and a whole spectrum of options in fees and schedules with special discounts for early registration.  Drs. Marjan Debruin, CARIMAC's Acting Director says the Institute has built greater flexibility into this year's offerings by expanding the number and variety of options and by extending the summer school’s period to nearly two months.  The extension allows CARIMAC to increase the range of courses offered. Some courses can be completed in a day while more complex courses last up to four weeks. New course options include desktop publishing, internet research, online journalism and publicity strategies. The Institute has also announced a schedule of beat reporting courses for specialist reporting, on the   environment, sports and business. Other courses are: basic print journalism; techniques of writing; electronic news production; basic digital video production; digital video post production; website design; graphic design; health communication for behaviour change; photo journalism; radio announcing and presentation; public relations and public speaking.  For further information on CARIMAC’s Summer School contact Gayon Davis or Pat Bryant at Telephone 977 1397-9 or e-mail: carimac@uwimona.edu.jm
