Monroe on Corruption

Noted Political Scientist and Senator, Professor Trevor Munroe will lecture on Combating Corruption:  Challenges to Democratic Governance in the public lecture series “The University in the West” being sponsored by UWI.  According to Professor Munroe, “The war against corruption in Jamaica and the Caribbean has had only limited success and now needs to be urgently stepped up.  In so doing, we should examine our own, as well as global experience, discern what elements are missing or under-developed, and urgently attend to these if we are to meet the challenges posed by corruption to democratic governance”.  The lecture expands on these views.  It will be held on Wednesday, June 11 at the St. John’s Methodist Church Hall, Duke Street, Montego Bay at 5:30 p.m.

The Mona Campus of the UWI in collaboration with the UWI School of Continuing Studies at Harrison House in Montego Bay is sponsoring this series of public lectures to engage the people of Montego Bay on a range of issues relevant to development in the society.  This is the fourth in the series, which has included lectures on Tourism, Mental Health and Digital Technologies.  The series ends in July with a lecture by Professor Carolyn Cooper on Jamaica Popular Music.
