Professor Peter Fletcher, Head of the Department of Surgery, Radiology, Anaesthesia and Intensive Care at UWI Mona, was recently the guest of the British Columbia Surgical Society in Canada, where he was the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Speaker. The occasion was the 56th Annual Spring Meeting of the Society held from May 8 to 10.  Professor Fletcher, at the end of the meeting, was also appointed an honorary member of the Society.  During the meeting Professor Fletcher also spent time with surgical residents of the University of British Columbia (UBC) on clinical rounds.  The British Columbia Surgical Society’s annual meetings provide a forum for academic and community surgeons to present papers on current clinical experience, innovations and research.  It is also a forum for surgical residents from UBC to present their research and compete for a research prize.
