Panel Discussion -'Trends, Challenges and Future Prospects for the Jamaican Real Estate Market'

The Department of Geography and Geology, UWI, Mona in collaboration with the Jamaica Geographical Society will host a panel discussion entitled, “Trends, Challenges and Future Prospects for the Jamaican Real Estate Market. The panel discussion is scheduled to take place on Thursday, April 19 at 4:30 pm at the Undercroft, UWI, Mona.

Panellists on this occasion include: Robert Kinlocke, Assistant Lecturer, UWI, Mona, Everton Dewar, Attorney-at- Law, Tanya Pringle, Corporate Communications Manager, Jamaica National Building Society.

The discussion is timely, given recent developments such as the impact of the recent international financial crisis, the signing of the JDX, the decision by a number of our local mortgage companies to significantly reduce their interest rates, the effects of crime and rapid urban expansion on key urban centres and the increasing awareness of the island’s susceptibility to a number of geo-hazards especially earthquakes and landslides. The event will provide an avenue for stakeholder in the real estate market to interact with professionals and practitioners in the field, and will also serve to inform and educate potential home owners about the benefits of homeownership, challenges of the open market and trends in the Jamaican Real Estate market.

The university community and the public are invited to attend the event. For details contact the Department of Geology and Geography at 927-2129.
