UWI, Mona Hosts Free CAPE History Workshops

The Department of History and Archaeology at UWI, Mona will host free Caribbean Advance Proficiency Examinations (CAPE) History Workshops for sixth form students on April 14 and 21 at 9:30 am at the Neville Hall Lecture Theatre (N1), UWI, Mona. The Workshops are organized by the Department as a part of its outreach efforts. 
 
The first Workshop on April 14 is designed for students sitting CAPE History Unit 1 and will examine topics including: The Virginia Rebellion of 1831, Abolition of Slavery, Peasantry in the Caribbean and Independence, Assimilation in the Francophone Caribbean.  While the Unit 2 Workshop will address the following topics:  American War of Independence up to 1789, Gandhi and the Nationalist Movement in India, South Africa: Mandela and the National Liberation Movement and the Identity of the USA up to 1917. 
 
The Workshops will be lead by UWI, Mona lecturers who are experts on the topics being addressed.  History teachers and students who are interested in the Workshop are invited to telephone 927-1922 to register.
