Energy Lecture Series Explores Fossil Fuel

The Department of Physics at UWI, Mona hosts the fifth lecture in its Climate Energy Nexus: Call to Action Lecture Series on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at 4:30 pm at the Physics Lecture Room B, UWI, Mona. The Lecture which is entitled, “Options for Fossil Fuel System” will be delivered by Aston Stephens, Consultant, Gar Engineering. 
 
The presentation will examine the power grid and explore the impact that the conventional source of generation has. It will discuss the planning and operation of conventional/central generation, on the planning process and the operation of the transmission and distribution. 
 
The Series seeks to look at the intersection points between Energy Supply and Demand and Climate Change. Additionally it is designed to provide insights and technical knowledge through interaction between experts and all energy stakeholders. Other topics being explored as part of the Series include: The Jamaican Energy Situation and the range of energy sources such as solar, nuclear, hydro and wind.
