In closing the celebration to Commemorate Jamaica’s 40th Anniversary of Independence, the Prime Minister of Jamaica, the Most Hon. P. J. Patterson has awarded the Prime Minister’s Medal of Appreciation for service to Jamaicans in a number of categories. Among the awardees are the University Singers who have been awarded a medal for services to the performing arts. Longstanding member of the UWI Alumni Association, resident in Toronto, Canada, Maude Fuller, also received a medal for services to Jamaicans residing abroad.
