The Unit for Disaster Studies in the Department of Geography and Geology, UWI Mona will present a workshop called Mitigation of Debris flows Hazards and Risks from July 7 to 10. The workshop is open to interested members of the public, including home owners, engineers involved in the construction of roads, culverts and bridges, earth scientists, mining engineers, disaster planners, insurance managers and information specialists. The workshop is part of the UWI summer course, Analysis and Management of Geohazards and Risks and costs $6,500. This includes refreshments and a field trip. The last date for registration is June 30 and early registration is advised because of limited space.
