Learn the Basics in Research Skills Training

The Epidemiology Research Unit (ERU) of the Tropical Medicine Research Institute (TMRI) presents a Basic Research Skills Training Workshop. The Workshop is slated for June 4-7,2012 at the Sickle Cell Unit Seminar Room, UWI, Mona.
The Workshop will address the following:
• identifying important reasons for carrying out research and choosing relevant and feasible topics for research;
• defining a research question and choosing the study design most appropriate to meet the given objectives;
• calculating the sample size and sample subjects for a research study;
• defining measurements;
• summarising and present basic results of an investigation;
• designing data collection instruments correctly;
• identifying ethical and scientific standards to be met when conducting research;
• writing a research protocol.
