Just-In-Time Lecture Technology

The UWI Distance Education Centre in collaboration with the Organization of American States, OAS, will host a workshop from June 24 to 27 at the Terra Nova Hotel in Kingston, to familiarize UWI personnel from the three campuses and non-campus territories with Just-In-Time Lecture Technology. Just-In-Time Technology enables the production of interactive multimedia sessions on a compact disc, which can be used in conjunction with the Internet, if desired. This means that students would be able to receive lectures and tutorial support at times convenient to them. The workshop is being attended by UWI administrative, technical and academic staff from Jamaica, Bahamas, Belize, Cayman, and Turks and Caicos Islands. Just-In-Time Lecture Technology is designed to enhance distance education operations at the UWI. The two-year project, which began in 2001, is being funded by the OAS. Guest speaker at the workshop’s opening ceremony will be Mr. Carlton Samuels, Chief Information Officer, Mona Information Technology Services, UWI.
