Mona’s Athletics and Vollyball Teams Win
UWI Mona’s athletics and vollyball teams were winners at the Caribbean University’s Sports Association’s (CUSA) Tenth Anniversary Games held in Barbados last week. The Campus’s athletics team won the overall athletics championships, beating the Cave Hill Campus into second place. The Mona team fielded both the men’s and women’s doubles champions, Jenice Daley and Eron Samuels and finished the meet with 88 points.
Mona’s volleyball team also won a gold medal in their competition beating the team from the Universite des Antilles et de Guyane. The Caribbean University Sports Association was set up to help establish an efficient network of tertiary institutions collaborating closely to produce high quality athletes, administrators and personnel. This will serve to enrich and enhance the prestige of the Caribbean in the area of sports. The Association currently has eight members including the UWI, The University of Technology, Jamaica and G.C. Foster College.
