UWI, Mona Western Jamaica Campus Hosts Panel Discussion on Language in Jamaica and the Caribbean

The University of the West Indies, Mona-Western Jamaica Campus alongside the Montego Bay Community College and the St. James Parish Council present a panel discussion entitled, It’s not just Patwa: Language in Jamaica and the Caribbean.  The panellist on this occasion include:  Professor Devonish, Coordinator, Jamaica Language Unit, UWI, Mona, Dr. Nicole Scott, Lecturer, and Graduate Students: Kadian Walters, Kedisha Williams, Nickesha Dawkins in Linguistics at UWI, Mona. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at 5:30 pm at the Montego Bay Civic Centre. 
 
The event is a part of the line up of activities for Creole and Heritage month which are being celebrated in October. The event is also the first lecture in the series being hosted by the UWI, Mona – Western Jamaica Campus. The upcoming lectures will explore Sam Sharp, Marcus Garvey and Rastafari and Sex and gender in the Dancehall.
