Dr. Hopeton Dunn to Head CPTC

Communication Specialist and Senior Lecturer at the UWI, Dr. Hopeton Dunn is to assume executive leadership at the Creative Production and Training Centre Limited (CPTC) for two years, on secondment from the University of the West Indies (UWI). On the recommendation of the CPTC Board, and with the agreement of Government and the UWI, Dr. Dunn will assume responsibilities as Chairman and CEO of the CPTC from August 2, 2003. In the interim, however, he will continue to teach and supervise graduate students in the MA and Phd. programmes, while managing the region’s largest multimedia production and training centre, with offices and studios at the Caenwood complex at 37 Arnold Road, in Kingston. Dr. Dunn has had a close working relationship with the CPTC over many years, joining the board during the tenure of Mr. Wycliffe Bennett who also served as chairman and CEO. He will assume executive responsibilities at a time when the CPTC is expected to be a key player in the implementation of a new phase of public service broadcasting in Jamaica. Two and a half years ago, as board chairman Dr. Dunn proposed and oversaw the establishment of Creative Television (CTV), the public service cable channel and outreach arm of the CPTC.
