The UWI, through its School of Continuing Studies is to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Brown’s Town Community College with respect to the franchising of the university’s generic Bachelor of Science Nursing degree programme. The signing, which takes place Tuesday, July 29, at Mona, follows the college’s formal request to the university to deliver the UWI’s generic Nursing degree programme which is administered by the Department of Advanced Nursing Education, Faculty of Medical Sciences. The signing is in line with UWI’s commitment in its strategic plan to increase collaboration with tertiary level institutions including community colleges like Brown’s Town, which is located in St. Ann. This collaboration includes strengthening these institutions so that they can deliver first and second year university courses in certain subjects and, in some cases, deliver the full UWI degree. In all cases the UWI will maintain assessment and quality control.
