The 2003/4 Matriculation and Welcome Ceremony for new students at the Mona Campus will be held on Thursday, September 18 in the Assembly Hall beginning at 4:00 p.m. The President of the Guild of Students will greet the new students, there will be a welcome address by the Principal of the Campus, Professor Kenneth Hall and remarks by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Rex Nettleford. At this ceremony, one of the new students will on behalf of the new students sign the Matriculation Register and the University Singers will perform. This year, the “Sherlock Yabbah” will be introduced at the Matriculation Ceremony on all three Campuses of the UWI. Students will be invited to make a contribution in the Yabbah as a way of saying thanks to the Founding Fathers, who opened the doors to Tertiary Education to the people of the Caribbean. The money collected will go towards a fund to enhance student services and cultural programmes at the UWI. All new students are required to attend and sign the Matriculation Register at 3:00 p.m. at the Undercroft.
