Professor Emeritus Errol Hill – 1921 - 2003

The University of the West Indies has learned with regret of the death on September 15 of Professor Emeritus Errol Hill, renowned scholar, academic and director. Professor Hill who was awarded the Honorary Doctor of Letters (DLitt) in 1998 by the University of the West Indies served the UWI for many years in various capacities. He was tutor in drama and radio at the University College of the West Indies (UCWI) at Mona in 1953, staff tutor in drama at the Extra Mural Department, UCWI, Trinidad 1954 – 1956; Staff Tutor in Drama for the Eastern Caribbean, UCWI 1956 - 1958 and Tutor in Creative Arts at the UWI from 1962 – 1965. At the time of his death, Professor Hill was the John D. Willard Professor of Drama and Oratory, Emeritus at Dartmouth College, in the United States where he taught for thirty five years. The UWI extends condolences to the family, former students and colleagues of Professor Hill.
