Two students from the Department of Economics, UWI Mona are the recipients of the G. Arthur Brown Memorial Scholarship 2003 and the Thomas De La Rue Scholarship 2003, respectively. They are Evon Mullings and Andre Haughton. Each award is for J$250,000.00 per annum. The scholarships, which are for two years each, took effect from September, 2003. Recipients were awarded based on their first year, full-time status in the M.Sc. Economics Degree Programme. Renewal is based on satisfactory academic performance and general conduct as certified by the University. The sponsors of the scholarships are the Bank of Jamaica and the De La Rue Group plc, the British Company which prints Jamaica's currency.
