Third Annual Peter Tosh Symposium
The Third Annual Peter Tosh Symposium commences at the Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts, UWI on Saturday, October 11 from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The theme of this year’s symposium is The Poetics in Peter Tosh’s Music. Presentations will include performances by poets Oku Onura, Mutabaruka, Cherry Natural, Yasus Afari, Neto Meeks, Brian Meeks, Kingsley Stewart (Ragashanti), Ibo Cooper, Amina Blackwood-Meeks, Che, The I Am and Marsha Hall.
Also performing are singers and players of instruments: Maurice Gordon, Seretse, Marcus I, Barry Chevannes, Nambo Robinson and Idren Workshop and Sane Band. Poets, singers and players of instruments will render their interpretations of their selections of Peter Tosh’s music as well as do their own compositions in tribute to Peter Tosh. They will speak on the poetics in Tosh’s music, the creative ethos that shaped his music and his influence on the works of other artistes.
