Film Screening
Roman Polanski's powerful and moving film, The Pianist, recounts the true story of a celebrated young musician, Wladyslaw Szpilman, who survived the Holocaust by hiding in Nazi-occupied Warsaw. This critically acclaimed film won the Palme d'Or (Cannes Film Festival 2002), six French Cesars (2003) and three Academy Awards (2003), among other international critics' prizes. It will be screened in the Round Room of the Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts on Thursday October 16 from 2-5pm. A question and answer session will follow the screening with Dr. Simone Gigliotti, Department of History and Archaeology, UWI - Mona.
