Caribbean Tertiary Level Personnel Association
The Caribbean Tertiary Level Personnel Association (CTLPA) held its first General Meeting for the academic year on October 7, at the Social Welfare Training Centre.
Participants included student services personnel from the University of The West Indies, Mona, the University of Technology, Mico Teachers’ College, Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts, Montego Bay Community College and Portmore Community College.
The main activity for the session was a panel presentation on “The First Year/Freshman Year Experience”. This was done from the Perspectives of the Educational Administrator, the Career Counsellor and the Counsellor. Presenters were Mrs. Marina Cunningham, guidance counsellor, president, CTLPA; Merrit Henry, career counsellor, vice president, CTLPA and Dr. Angella Samuels, principal, Montego Bay Community College.
The association will host a workshop on November 26, on “Understanding College Students Behaviour“ at the Knutsford Court Hotel. The main Speaker will be Dr. Peter Weller, Counsellor, Counselling Unit, University of The West Indies, Mona.
