New Masters Programme in Communication
The Caribbean Institute of Media and Communication (CARIMAC) at UWI Mona has announced a new Masters Programme in Communication for Social and Behaviour Change which will begin in January, 2004. This new Masters Programme will provide students with a solid foundation in theory, research methods and practice. Students will be prepared to develop, deliver, and evaluate communication campaigns for social and behaviour change as well as to disseminate information to a wide variety of potential audiences. The programme also seeks to instil in students a lifelong commitment to high ethical practices and standards in health and development support communication.
The programme is a first-of-its-kind in the Caribbean and is designed to produce communicators with special skills in behaviour change communication strategies especially applicable to small island developing states and other developing countries in Africa, Asia and South America. The Masters Degree is offered with the option of extension to an MPhil or PhD. The programme is one year full-time with an option of two year part time - most courses will be offered in the evenings. The cost is US$8,400 and the package includes a lap-top computer. Applications must be received no later than November 28, 2003 and scholarships are available on a limited basis.
