Mona Library hosts Members of SEFLIN
Executive Director of the Southeast Florida Library Information Network, Tom Sloan and four Board Members: Brian Kelly, Director of Library Services at Palm Beach Community College; Larry Miller, Executive Director of Library Services, Florida International University; William Miller, Director of Libraries, Florida Atlantic University; Samuel Morrison, Director Emeritus, Broward County Library System were guests of the University of the West Indies Library and the Jamaican Library Community during the period October 27-30. Their objective was to explore possible areas of partnership and collaboration with Jamaican libraries. Meetings were held with the Mona Campus Librarians and faculty members of the Department of Library and Information Studies, as well as the Library and Information Association of Jamaica, representatives of the University of Technology, the Jamaica Library Service, and the National Library of Jamaica. They also paid a courtesy call on Deputy Principal, Joe Pereira, who also hosted a reception in their honour at the Mona Visitors’ Lodge on Monday October 27.
SEFLIN, a non-profit membership organization of Southeast Florida libraries, was founded in 1984 to provide cooperative library services. It strives to pioneer innovative technology to deliver quality library services to Southeast Florida, a service area covering 5,000 square miles with more than 5 million residents.
