Visiting Canadian Scholar
The Department of Literatures in English, in association with the West Indian Association of Commonwealth Language and Literature Studies will host writer and scholar, Professor Daniel Coleman of Canada at UWI Mona from Monday, December 8 to Friday, December 12. On Tuesday, December 9 at 5:30 p.m. Professor Coleman will give a reading from his memoir, The Scent of Eucalyptus, which is about his experience as a child of missionaries in Ethiopia. The venue is the Philip Sherlock Centre for the Creative Arts.
He will also give a lecture titled “White Civility and the Management of Canadian Citizenship” on Thursday, December 11, at 3:00 p.m. The lecture will take place in the Arts Conference Room on the New Arts Building in the Faculty of Humanities and Education. Dr. Coleman is the Associate Professor of Canadian Literature and Canada Research Chair in Critical Race and Ethnicity Studies at McMaster University.
