The French Government

The French Government is inviting qualified Jamaicans to apply for positions as English Language Assistants for the next academic year. These positions will be available in mainland France as well as in the French overseas departments of Guadeloupe and Martinique. The programme is designed to allow Jamaican assistants to master the French Language and customs while providing French students with the authenticity of their language and the richness of their culture. The programme is open to Jamaican professionals and students aged 20 to 30 years. All candidates should have the equivalent of an associate degree and a fair knowledge of spoken French. Successful applicants will spend a period of 6 to 9 months depending on the level at which they will be teaching. Application forms are available at the Embassy of France, in the Department of Modern Languages at UWI, Mona and from the Faculty of Education and Liberal Studies at UTech. They can also be down loaded at www.ciep.fr . They are also available from Shortwood Teachers College and Northern Caribbean University.
