Social Welfare Training Centre Graduation Exercise

The Graduation exercise for the 41st regional four month course in the Principles and Practices of Social Work, will be held on Thursday, April 29 at 5:30 p.m. on the lawn of the Social Welfare Training Centre at UWI, Mona.
The four month course, which is highly regarded in the region, is organized by the Social Welfare Training Centre (SWTC), School of Continuing Studies, UWI. It brings together persons who are working in the broad field of social work, both on a professional and voluntary basis from many areas of the Caribbean. This year there are fifty-seven (57) participants from four (4) nations - Antigua and Barbuda, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Jamaica. The participants represent a wide range of social services including health, correctional services, policing, counselling, religion, community development, social welfare, service clubs and youth work. The students did their practicum training in twenty-two (22) social service agencies in Jamaica.
Tutor/Coordinator in Social Work, Lincoln Williams, was assisted in training the participants by a staff of over thirty-five (35) part-time and full-time faculty members representing various disciplines related to social development. The Guest Speaker at the closing ceremony will be Mrs. Blossom White, Sociologist, Missionary Church Association. All graduates of past four month courses are invited to join the 2004 batch of students at their graduation ceremony.
