NEPA Partners with Environmental Law Society
In an effort to determine the effectiveness of environmental laws in Jamaica, the Environmental Law Society, Norman Manley Law School, in collaboration with the National Environment and Planning Agency, NEPA will stage a one-day expo at the Norman Manley Law School, on Monday, January 26 starting at 8:00 a.m. Highlights of the day include a panel discussion and an exhibition. Organised under the theme “The Effective of Environmental Laws in Jamaica” members of staff of NEPA and popular environmentalists, Peter Espeut and Diana McCauley will participate in the panel discussion which starts at 1:00 p.m.
The objectives of the expo are to promote and enhance the work of the Environmental Law Society and to solidify NEPA’s relationship with the organization. It comes as part of the Agency’s attempt to promote the importance of the law in arresting environmental abuses and as a tool for environmental education. The expo targets tertiary and secondary level students, lecturers and teachers, attorneys-at-law, as well as members of the public, who are invited to come out and support this initiative.
