Public Forum on Haiti
As part of its plans to commemorate the Haitian bicentenary, the Department of History and Archaeology at UWI Mona will be hosting a public forum/panel discussion on Friday, February 20 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The venue is the Main Library's Multifunctional Room and the theme is Haiti: the Challenge of Freedom. The objective of the panel is to address general issues and concerns related to the history of Haiti since 1804 in an interactive forum with members of the public. The panelists include Prof. Verene Shepherd who will chair the discussion, Dr. Matthew Smith and Prof. Patrick Bryan, all of the Department of History and Archaeology; Prof. Brian Meeks of the Department of Government; Haitian National, Myrtha Desulmé and Environmentalist, Peter Espeut.
