Three-Day Training Conference

The Jamaica Association of Social Workers will host a three-day Training Conference from March 12 to 14 in the Social Sciences Lecture Theatre, UWI, Mona Campus. Topics to be discussed include Treating Children who are Traumatized by Sexual Violence; Working with Survivors of Rape in the Jamaican Setting; Sexual Violence among Children: A Jamaican Perspective; and Signs of Depression and Treatment in Children and Adults. Presenters will include Dr. Joan Lesser, Smith College, Massachusetts; Dr Marlene Cooper, Fordham University, New York; Mrs. Maureen Little, Dr. Charles Thessiger and Dr. Gillian Lowe, of the Department of Community Health and Psychiatry, UWI, Mona and
Ms. Peta-Anne Baker, Department of Sociology, Psychology and Social Work UWI, Mona. The cost of the conference is $4,500 per person. There is also an early bird price of $3,500 if the conference fee is paid by March 3. Fees can be paid at Room 7, Social Welfare Training Centre, UWI, Mona.
