10th Annual International Conference on Diabetes
The UWI’s Diabetes Outreach Project, UDOP, will host its 10th Annual International Conference on Diabetes from March 4 to 7 at the Renaissance Jamaica Grande Resort Hotel in Ocho Rios. UDOP is organising the conference in association with the Environmental Health Foundation, the Pan American Health Organisation, the World Health Organisation, the Caribbean Food and Nutrition Institute and the American Diabetes Association. The theme of this year’s conference is New Trends in Diabetes Management. UWI Vice Chancellor, Prof. the Hon Rex Nettleford will welcome participants from around the world to the conference at the opening ceremony on Thursday March 4, while President of the Senate of Trinidad and Tobago, Linda Baboolal will give the keynote address.
After the opening ceremony, there will be the presentation of the Sir Alister McIntyre Distinguished Award to Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Professor Owen Morgan. President of Morehouse School of Medicine, Dr. James Gavin III will then deliver the Sir Alister McIntyre Distinguished Lecture. Participants will discuss a wide range of topics at the conference including New Advances in Diabetes Management; Food and Supplements in Diabetes; New Advances in Insulin Therapy; and New Advances in the Science and Technology of Diabetes.
