UWI Medical Alumni Association to Host Premiere of One Love

The long-anticipated film, ONE LOVE, with screenplay by Trevor Rhone and featuring a star-studded Jamaican cast, headlined by Ky-mani Marley and Cherine Anderson, will have its Jamaican premiere on Monday, April 5, at the Island Cinema in New Kingston. ONE LOVE tells the story of the forbidden love between a young Rasta reggae musician Kassa (Marley) and Serena (Anderson), the gospel singing daughter of a devout Pentecostal preacher (Winston Stona). Brought together through their mutual love of music, ONE LOVE explores how the power of music and love can overcome the strongest cultural and religious differences. The gala event is to be hosted by The University of the West Indies Medical Alumni Association (UWIMAA), Jamaica Chapter, with proceeds going towards the establishment of a Medical Intermediate Care Unit, (MICU) to provide more intensive nursing care, ventilatory support and monitoring for critically ill non-surgical patients. The proposed Medical Intermediate Care Unit, will be a 4-Bed Unit that would be annexed on the Medical Floor. The UWIMAA is dedicated to providing ongoing support for the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the University of the West Indies, in the areas of Fund Raising; Personnel Training and Exchange, Medical Research and the acquisition and distribution of equipment and materials - with the overall objective of improving the medical care of the people in the Caribbean Basin.
