As part of its contribution to Child Health activities, the Section of Child Health, Faculty of Medical Sciences, UWI Mona and the Department of Child Health, University Hospital of the West Indies will hold their first annual Child Health and Development Conference from May 1-2 at the Faculty of Medical Sciences Lecture Theatre. The theme for the conference is Child Neurology for Practitioners. The conference is multi-disciplinary in nature with a programme geared towards all professionals involved in the care of children with neurological problems, many of whom are also special needs children. This includes nurses, physiotherapists, pharmacists, psychologists, occupational and speech therapists, audiologists, care-givers of children with special needs, general practitioners, orthopaedic surgeons, neuro-surgeons, radiologists and paediatricians. The Conference involves not only lectures, but also training workshops done in small groups for persons to improve their practical skills. Presenters are drawn from local and overseas institutions.
