2nd Caribbean Conference on Dispute Resolution
The Mona School of Business University of the West Indies and the Dispute Resolution Foundation will
host the 2nd Caribbean Conference on Dispute Resolution from May 12 to 14, 2004 at the Jamaica Conference Centre. The theme of the conference is “Riding the Tides of Troubled Times: 21st Century Techniques for reducing the cost of Conflicts and Disputes”.
The objectives of the conference are: to define the role of Conflict Resolution and its value to the Jamaican and Caribbean economies; to promote the use of mediation in the courts, businesses and communities; and to provide a forum within which Jamaican and Caribbean policymakers, academia, citizens, experts, mediators and practitioners on Conflict Resolution meet and share experiences, ideas and strategies.
The conference will address issues and challenges associated with developing policies and strategies to institutionalize Alternative Dispute Resolution in the Caribbean. This builds on the work done by the Disputes Resolution Foundation in the Region for more than ten years. The conference will include plenary sessions and focusing on Business/Workplace, Justice/Courts, Community and Youth and Skill Building.
