International Conference on the Caribbean Court of Justice
The School for Graduate Studies and Research (SGSR) University of the West Indies will host an International Conference on the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) between Thursday, May 6 and Saturday, May 8 on the Mona Campus. The conference will bring together persons from a variety of disciplines and interests including law and jurisprudence, government, private sector and academia. Some of the topics to be explored are The Role of the Judiciary in Caribbean Integration; Administrative and Constitutional Challenges in the Establishment of the Judiciary in the Caribbean Court of Justice; Financial and Jurisprudential Implications; Access to the Caribbean Court of Justice and Reflections and Visions. These sessions will be held in the Social Sciences Lecture Theatre (SSLT), Friday and Saturday beginning at 9:00 a.m. The Conference will officially open on Thursday May 6, at 6:00 p.m. at the Undercroft, Senate Building, Mona Campus. Professor Errol Morrison, Pro Vice Chancellor and Dean, School for Graduate Studies & Research will chair the function and the Honourable A. J. Nicholson, Attorney General of Jamaica will address the participants and declare the conference open. The highlight of the evening will be a public lecture on “Final Appellate Courts” to be delivered by the Honourable Dr. Lloyd Barnett O.J. The public is invited.
