Fulbright Foreign Researcher Programme

The Central American/Caribbean Special Fulbright Foreign Researcher Programme is now inviting applications from local scholars and professionals for research grants between May and December of next year. The U.S. Embassy notes that while applicants can submit proposals for research in any area, preference will be given to projects in Sustainable Development such as Education, Environmental Sciences, Urban Planning, Public Health/Mental Health, Economic Growth, Trade/Business Administration and Migration or in Democratization, such as in the areas of Governance and Institutional Strengthening, Political Science/Public Policy, Law and the Administration of Justice and Civil Society/NGO Development. The U.S. Department of State will cover all costs associated with the research programme. The awards are open to independent scholars and professionals as well as to university professors who hold at least a master's degree. They must have at least three years of university teaching experience or five years of professional experience. Additional details on applying for the 2005 Central America/Caribbean Special Fulbright Foreign Researcher Program can be found at the U.S. Embassy Kingston’s website at http://usembassy.state.gov/kingston/wwwhpr-april-26-04.html.
