Introduction to Greenstone Digital Library Software
The Department of Library and Information Studies will host the course Introduction to Greenstone Digital Library Software from July 19 to 23. The course will be taught by Professor Fay Durrant. This five-day workshop will provide an initial overview of digital library software applications, and the features of the Greenstone Digital Library software. The main thrust of the workshop will be hands-on training in developing a digital collection. Sessions will include exercises in using the searching and browsing structures of demonstration collections in Greenstone; accessing the user interface; creating new collections; inserting metadata; adding search indexes; and exporting collections to a CD-rom. The course will cost J$10,000 and will be held in the Department’s computer lab. For further information contact the Department at 927 2944.
