2005 Fellowships to Assist Research and Artistic Creation
The John Simon Guggenheim Foundation has announced its two annual round of fellowships, one of which is open to citizens of Latin America and the Caribbean. The Fellowships are to further the development of scholars and artists by assisting them to engage in research in any field of knowledge and creation in any of the arts, under the freest possible conditions and irrespective of race, color, or creed. The foundation notes that Fellowships are meant for advanced professionals in mid-career, not those just beginning their careers. Without a significant record of accomplishment, beginners will have a hard time competing. The candidates themselves must submit the completed applications no later than December 1, 2004. An eligible applicant may download and fill out an application form (to be printed out for submission by postal mail). Eligibility to download is determined through a questionnaire on the Foundation website. Final selection of Latin American and Caribbean Fellows for 2005 will be made in June 2005.
Please visit the website at http://www.gf.org for detailed information. Applicants are asked to inform the Office of Sponsored Research of their intention to apply for this Fellowship by telephoning 970-3175.
