Lorna Parkins Executive Director of New Caribbean Accreditation Authority
Mrs. Lorna Parkins has been appointed Executive Director of the recently launched Caribbean Accreditation Authority for education in Medicine and other Health Professions with effect from August 1, 2004. Mrs. Parkins who has been employed to The University of the West Indies since 1989, has been Senior Programme Officer in the Office of Planning and Development and the Office of Administration and Special Initiatives, Vice Chancellery since 1999. She was promoted to the rank of Professor with effect from October 2003. Mrs. Parkins’ assignments over the past five years have included coordinating the activities of the Steering Committee leading to the establishment of the Regional Accreditation Authority. This involved drafting the proposal for submission to the governments of the region. Mrs. Parkins holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Spanish as well as the Master of Arts in Education from the UWI. She also holds a post graduate diplomas in Technical and Specialised Translation and has professional training in project management.
