The Mona School of Business, UWI is inviting qualified persons to submit entries to the Vincent HoSang Entrepreneurship Incubation Programme. The programme is opened to final year undergraduate students, graduate students and researchers at the UWI Mona Campus. The Vincent HoSang Entrepreneurship Incubation Programme is an initiative sponsored by prominent and successful Jamaican entrepreneur based in the USA, Mr. Vincent HoSang. It is designed to encourage students and researchers in the UWI community to act on their energy, ideas and talents to produce the innovative companies of tomorrow. The programme seeks to combine the talents of the island’s top business, science and humanities students to explore the development of new companies. The selection process involves the preliminary selection round in which interested persons or groups must submit a clearly written summary of their business plan.
The judging panel will select twelve ventures for the next round. In this round the twelve (12) teams will be invited to meet with the judging panel to provide further information on their ventures. This session will end with an elimination of six (6) of the entrants. In the final selection round the remaining six (6) entrants will be invited to submit their improved business plans and make a Power Point presentation to a judging panel of UWI and private sector judges. The goal of this round is to convince the judges that the business ventures can be successful. In this round four ventures will be selected for incubation. The funds donated by Vincent HoSang to the programme will be used by the teams to develop their projects into viable economically feasible ventures. Funds of up to a value of $100,000 per team will be disbursed according to the identified needs of each team. The deadline for entries is August 30, 2004.
