President of The UWI Medical Alumni Association (Jamaica Chapter), Dr. Anna Matthews issued the following tribute to Sir Kenneth Standard.
The UWI Medical Alumni Association Jamaica Chapter wishes to express its deep regret at the passing of Professor Sir Kenneth Standard an alumnus of the pioneering First Class of the Faculty of Medical Sciences. He was indeed a stalwart, an icon of all that the medical profession is supposed to stand for.
Our loss is felt even more profoundly as his daughter, Dr Aileen Standard Goldson is not only an alumna herself but is also an active member of the Association having served in various executive positions including that of President. We offer our sincere condolence to her, to Lady Standard and the rest of their families. In his memory may we re-commit to his ideals and teachings, which, in fact, embody the Hippocratic doctrine which guides our profession.
