The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus extends warm congratulations to three associates who were named to receive national honours and awards recently. Receiving the Order of Distinction in the rank of Officer are Dr. Heloise Lewis, former head of the Department of Educational Studies, Faculty of Humanities and Education at Mona who is now retired; Mrs. Vivelyn Latty-Scott, part-time cricket coach in the Sports department, Office of Student Services; and Mrs. Barbara Requa, part-time lecturer in the Department of Educational Studies. Dr Lewis is being recognised for her contribution to Education, particularly to the teaching of Spanish in Jamaica and the Caribbean. Mrs. Latty-Scott is being awarded for her contribution to the development and administration of women’s cricket in Jamaica and the West Indies; while Mrs. Requa is being recognised for service to Dance. The awards will be presented on October 18, National Heroes Day.
