Get ready to be very proud of your Alma Mater, because as we say in Jamaica, “big things a gwaan” and we are leading the pack. Firstly, the UWI Challenge is nearing completion and the teams are quite busy finalizing their plans, and practicing their presentations. The judges are sharpening their scoring pencils, and Douglas Lindo and Chantelle Fuskin are on the edge of their seats as they have really put in so much effort in order to make this happen.
Bigger news is the E-Centre is completed and training of the first set of students who will work in that 24 hour facility has been taking place for the last two weeks. Live operations start in December and will eventually provide part-time earnings for over 3,000 students.
Huge news will be when I am at liberty to tell you the names of companies that will utilize the facility. The UWI family will have reason to be justly proud, and kudos go out to yet unnamed visionaries who have worked tirelessly to make this happen.
I have also attached a brief article that will make you wonder how we Jamaicans can reach so far in life. It makes me ponder how come we haven’t officially taken over the world yet.
Have a great weekend.
