2014 Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) Academic Conference

MONA SCHOOL OF BUSINESS & MANAGEMENT (MSBM), in association with its Cohort 4 doctoral candidates presented the 2014 Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) academic conference, which was held at the University of the West Indies Regional Headquarters, Mona Jamaica, on Thursday, June 5, 2014 .

Under the theme” Towards new business growth: the nexus of theory and practice,” the keynote address was gven by Mr. Patrick Hylton, group-managing director of Jamaica’s largest commercial (National commercial Bank), and a member of the public/private sector oversight committee, Economic Programme Oversight Committee (EPOC. The conference agenda also  included  remarks by  Professor E. Nigel Harris, Vice-Chancellor of the University of the West Indies, as well as  presentations by the six doctoral candidates on their respective dissertation research interests. 


The candidates’ areas of focus for dissertation research include

  • SME growth and development
  • Measuring intangible assets in the Creative Industries
  • Upside risk in low income lending

  • Corporate transformation

  • Logistic service development

  • Advertising Effectiveness in local television programming



The conference  brought together academic researchers and industry practitioners to share their ideas on scholarly research and their applicability to business practices.
