Applications for the Vincent HoSang UWI Venture Competition (UWIVC) which were opened on September 1, 2020 will be extended until October 30, 2020.
The UWIVC is the flagship activity of the Vincent HoSang Entrepreneurship Programme (VHEP), an initiative sponsored by Dr. Vincent HoSang through the Vincent HoSang Family Foundation (VHFF). The VHFF has partnered with the Mona School of Business and Management (MSBM) to bring to life, a programme that motivates the students and researchers in The University of the West Indies (UWI) community to act on their ideas and talents, to produce the innovative companies of tomorrow.
The Competition is a means of getting students engaged in entrepreneurship and exposes participants to a number on benefits. Such benefits include one on one mentorship pairing, free boot camp sessions which include topics such as, Venture Financing, Marketing and Communications, as well as cash prizes for the final pitch where students can win up to JMD$350,000.
Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the Programme is forging ahead and will utilize digital platforms available to engage all students. The official Competition Launch - which was open to all partners, potential partners, mentors and students - was held on October 21, 2020.
