Broadcasting Commission calls for fairness in broadcasts

THE Broadcasting Commission of Jamaica has formally reminded radio and television stations as well as cable TV operators to be fair in dealing with airtime for political broadcasts, as campaigning gets into high gear and the political parties vie to communicate with voters through the media.

The commission, in a news release yesterday, said it reminded the media channels about the regulations relating to political broadcasts, and also issued the advisories to the political parties, the Electoral Commission of Jamaica, Citizens Action for Free and Fair Elections (CAFFE), the Political Ombudsman, the Advertising Agencies Association of Jamaica, the Media Association of Jamaica and the Press Association of Jamaica.
