The Human Resource Management Association of Jamaica (HRMAJ) and the Mona School of Business and Management (MSBM) have entered into a partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, which will see collaboration on certification of professional development courses, which are aligned to internationally recognised standards. The collaboration will also relate to research in human resource management.
The MOU was signed on last Thursday, at the Mona School of Business and Management, UWI Mona. HRMAJ and UWI have long partnered in a mutually supporting relationship for more than two decades.
Through its partnership with International HR development partners, HRMAJ will help ensure that graduates of UWI’s human resource management programmes are prepared for certification exams of the US-based Society for Human Resource Management. In addition, it will see MSBM supporting HRMAJ in the development and delivery of certification programmes in the field of human resource management.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Dr David McBean, Executive Director, MSBM, said the MOU should result in more data-driven decisions and the formulation of policies aimed at impacting how Jamaica develops laws, regulations and practices in the area of human resource.
“Mona School of Business and Management is a bridge to the business community and, in this context, we are seeking to ensure that our students and our research are relevant and applicable to the Jamaican human resource ecosystem, to facilitate change in the way we conduct business,” McBean said.
