The Vincent HoSang Entrepreneurship Programme (VHEP) is an initiative sponsored by Dr. Vincent HoSang, CEO, Caribbean Food Delights, through the Vincent HoSang Family Foundation (VHFF). Since 2002, the VHFF has partnered with Mona School of Business and Management (MSBM) to bring to life, a programme that motivates the students and researchers of The University of the West Indies, Mona (UWI) community to act on their ideas and talents, to produce the innovative companies of tomorrow. The Programme is designed to encourage members of the University community to use their talents and skills to harness ideas that can be grown into full-fledged operating businesses. It seeks to nurture the germ of new ideas for products and markets until they can be matured into a profitable operation.
The Vincent HoSang UWI Venture Competition (UWIVC) is a highlight of the Programme which is used to engage with students to promote the benefits. Participants in the Competition, go through at least 6-8 weeks of preparation and mentorship after which they make a pitch of their business idea which gives them the opportunity to win cash prizes among other awards.
The VHEP includes not only a competition for registered UWI student participation but an incubation period for which both winners and non-winners of the Competition may benefit. The incubation period consists of many benefits including:
