J $ 1 million in the first year (with amounts in subsequent years to be determined)
Maximum Tenure: 
Five (5) years
Eligibility: 

The award is available to: 

  • Students entering first year 
  • Females only
  • Jamaican and Grenadian nationals who have been accepted to pursue the MBBS (non-sponsored) programme in the Faculty of Medical Sciences.
Criteria: 

The award will be based on: 

  • Verifiable finanacial need;
  • Excellent academic performance in CAPE Examinations
Method of Selection: 

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a panel comprising a member of Denise Mitchell-Thwaites family and UWI personnel. 

Condition: 

Continuation on the award will be based on the awardee achieving a GPA of 3.0 or higher (each academic year)
