Italian Special Envoy for the Caribbean Visits FST to Strengthen Science and Technology Ties

On May 23, 2024, The Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) at The University of the West Indies, Mona welcomed a distinguished guest, Ambassador Vanni D'Archirafi Uberto, Italian Special Envoy for the Caribbean. The visit aimed to foster connections between Italy and the Caribbean in science and technology through collaborations between UWI and Italian universities. Ambassador Uberto met with Dean Michael Taylor, accompanied by Cecilia De Santis, Honorary Consul of Italy in Jamaica. The meeting also included representatives from various departments within FST including Dr. Marvadeen Singh-Wilmot (Senior Lecturer, Department of Chemistry), Dr. Venkateswara Penugonda (Head, Department of Physics), and Mrs. Elecia Myers (Resource Mobilization Coordinator, FST Dean's Office).

This initiative marks a significant step towards strengthening partnerships in science and technology between Italy and the Caribbean. FST is proud to be at the forefront of this effort, promoting collaboration and innovation in the region.
