UWI still in contention for KSAFA Super League Title

Having equalled the number of losses to wins (2-2), the UWI Mona Pelican Football Club team has restored some order in their quest for the KSAFA/Super League title, their ticket into the Premier League Competition.

The Pelicans tackled Mountain View F.C in a heated 2-1 encounter over the weekend at the Constant Spring Mini Stadium. The match got underway at 5:30pm and within the first minute of play it was obvious to all in attendance that both teams were hungry for a win.

The first goal of the evening did not come however until the 44th minute when scholarship recipient and Jamaica Under 23 representative Andrae Beranal's screamer pierced the nets. The UWI supporters' erupted in  frenzy. The team went into half time with a 1-0 advantage.

At the start of the second half, Mountain View made it clear their intention of getting a goal and soon after they found the equalizer. This sent fear in the UWI Camp, the team however managed to channel that fear into fierceness which resulted in Theo Campbell, another scholarship athlete finding the back of the net in the 61st minute. UWI Pelicans held on to that lead and through much defensive work walked away with three points.

The team will next face Shortwood F.C on Saturday at the Constant Spring Mini Stadium under the lights, 8:30pm match time.
